Renewal in 1 Visit: psychotechnical test + photo + digital submission to DGT

At Emedical Madrid you can renew your driving licence without complications. In a single visit we perform the medical/psychotechnical assessment, take the digital photo (included in the price), collect your digital signature and submit everything electronically to the DGT. You will receive a provisional certificate to drive in Spain while your permanent licence arrives by post.

Prices and Fees

  • Medical/psychotechnical assessment: €30 (free digital photo included).
  • DGT fee: €25 (standard fee for 10-year renewals).

* Renewals for shorter periods (medical reasons or age) have lower DGT fees. Over-70s are exempt from fees.

What to bring

  • Original valid ID (NIE, passport or Spanish DNI).
  • Current driving licence (even if expired).
  • Glasses or contact lenses if you wear them.
  • Photo: not needed — we take it at the clinic for free.

Step-by-step process

  2. We perform the official medical and psychotechnical assessment.
  3. We take the photo and collect the digital signature for the DGT.
  4. We submit your file electronically directly to Traffic.
  5. We hand you the official provisional certificate on the spot.

Frequently asked questions

Can I renew my licence even if it has expired?

Yes. The DGT does not fine you for renewing late, but remember you cannot drive until the renewal is completed.

Can I drive abroad with the provisional certificate?

No. The provisional certificate is only valid for driving within Spain. You must wait for the permanent plastic card to drive abroad.

Do I need an appointment?

No. We see patients in order of arrival without a prior appointment. Book by phone or WhatsApp if you prefer to avoid waiting.
